This is a tutorial about low poly design with Blender, I show the basics and some tricks you need for creating really low poly models for your games.

There are many videos and tutorials in which so-called low poly models are created, but if you are really going for low poly design you should focus on two things:

  1. Don’t waste polygons
  2. Use as few materials as possible

You can follow along this video in which I explain these principles by creating a simple low poly chair model with Blender 2.79.

The resulting model uses just one material and one texture! This is because of a special uv unwrapping and textuing method I use, to use a texture with 16px color squares to which I move my uv islands.
