In this video tutorial I show some rigging tips & tricks with Blender 2.8 for a low poly character game asset.
The first tip is how to place the bones of the armature inside of the character mesh: you can set the snapping to Volume, then snap the view of the Blender viewport to front ortho and add the bones to the mesh. When you hover with the cursor over the mesh while setting the location of the bones, they are snapped to the middle of the character-mesh.
Another great feature is to symmetrize the bones of the arms and legs. To do this a certain naming convention has to be applied to the bones. A bones on the left side for instance has to be named with a suffix of „.l“. When you press symmetrize then for the selected bones, they are copied to the other side with the correct naming and position.
